What is music therapy?

Music-Therapy1

Music therapy uses music and sounds where words may be difficult to find. Our qualified music therapists use music making to help people communicate, express themselves and start building relationships.

Everyone responds to music and this is often unaffected by disability and illness. Music can make a real difference. It can bring dramatic changes.

Music therapy is a creative way of working that is open to everyone, whatever challenges they may be facing.

What happens in a session?

In a music therapy session a wide selection of easy to use instruments is made available. The music therapist listens carefully and creatively supports people to make sounds. No previous experience of music is necessary.

Through sharing sounds and music together a positive relationship can develop, bringing opportunities for new ways to communicate.
