Tessitoura’s La Cenerentola by Rossini at Arnos Vale Cemetery Chapel on Saturday 25th June at 7.30pm, in support of MusicSpace.
“What Emma Rice, the new artistic director of London’s Globe Theatre, has done to high acclaim with her debut production of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Karen Stuart, stage director for Tessitoura, has done with Rossini’s classic tale of La Cenerentola (Cinderella). Whereas Emma Rice conjures up crowd-pleasing characters such as Hoxton Hipsters in trendy London, Karen Stuart takes us to the world of reality TV, Hello! magazine and present day ‘celebrities’. Both ladies make their respective genres both totally believable and highly accessible to today’s audience, without losing any of the author/composer’s fabulous words/music, each a classic tale with a twist.”
Sung in English with orchestral accompaniment.
