Residential home

One of the therapists talks about his work in a residential home

“I work one afternoon a week in a residential home for adults with physical and learning disabilities, doing a mix of individual and small group sessions. Residents experiment with the instruments and their voices, choose songs to sing or make up their own. Through exploring sounds and music together they have opportunities to interact socially, and to express their feelings creatively. For residents who have very limited movement, the opportunity to make music and to connect with others through this music can be a powerful and rewarding experience. Other residents use sessions to directly address concerns in their lives, and to “de-stress” after coming in from a day of outside activities.”
