Opportunity Group

One of the therapists describes some of her work in an Opportunity Group:

“I work with children with a variety of special needs, including those with cerebral palsy, autism, emotional challenges and social and communication difficulties. Music therapy can provide a creative outlet for children to develop self-awareness and to express their feelings in an accepted and non-challenging environment. Our sessions are child-led and involve playing and creating music together. This can help to develop children’s ability and motivation to communicate, and stimulates shared attention, listening and responding. Music therapy can also provide emotional support, enhancing the nurturing ethos which is at the heart of this Opportunity Group.”
