MusicSpace has been providing music therapy sessions at Bristol’s Children’s Hospital for 14 years thanks to funding from The Grand Appeal. We were in the spotlight last week, with two of our three music therapists appearing on BBC Radio Bristol and BBC Points West to talk about why this service is so important, and the transformative impact it has on patients.
While a number of hospitals have cut music therapy funding, The Grand Appeal charity has enabled the service to expand. It now runs five days a week to patients on any ward at the children’s hospital, and NICU at St Michael’s Hospital.
In the past year alone our three therapists have delivered almost 800 sessions with patients.
