Gromit song hits the trail

The Gromit Unleashed #2 song is out , and had its first live performance last Friday (10th August) beside the ‘Hound of Music’ Gromit sculpture in the Gardiner Haskins store. The song was performed by Karen and Claire, our music therapists at Bristol Children’s Hospital, and by the Hospital play therapists. In addition to playing the Gromit song, the group also performed all of the songs which are named on the ‘Hound of Music’ including, Don’t Worry Be Happy and Walking on Sunshine.

The Gromit trail song was written by Karen and Claire, and involved children and staff at the Bristol Children’s Hospital. The song celebrates the Gromit Trail, and it also encourages the public to be generous and support the Grand Appeal which funds music therapy and play at the Hospital.

Music therapy is an emotional support tool for patients during their stay at the hospital. Karen and Claire work with children of all ages, from babies on the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit to older teenagers. They visit patients on the wards with a guitar, ukulele and a trolley of instruments. Together, they deliver music therapy to sick children six days a week.
